  • About
    Every day preventable accidents and injuries occur to patients involving the safe and individual patient appropriate use of intravenous access, injections and use of occlusive devices. These injuries are often  tragic, have longlasting implications for patients and medical staff and in almost all instances,  are all  completely proeventable. Save The Arm is a site dedicated to the education and proliferation of knowledge related to medical conditions which require persons to avoid needle sticks, intravenous line access placement  PICC line placement and/or placement of blood pressure cuffs or occlusive devices in an arm to reduce the chance of injury or to prevent damage to a limb that might be used at some future point for percutaneous dialysis access. Save The Arm also proposes to better educate patients and medical staff about patients which might need to avoid needle sticks, IV access, PICC line access and/or trauma/pressure to an arm. Such conditions include but are not exclusively limited to: Patients likely requiring the need for future arterio-venous (AV) fistula or graft access in a forearm for hemodialysis access.
